I went to see the AOI Illustration Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, there are some lovely illustrations and some fascinating ones like Mitch Miller’s dialectogram of a showman’s yard in the East End. Lesley Barnes poster for The Museum of Childhood is beautiful and took me back to images from books I used to take out of the library when I was little. The other outstanding pieces I thought were the children’s book illustrations by Victoria Turnbull and Levi Pinfold and a wonderful pack of cards designed by Jonathan Burton.
The collection in the Courtauld Gallery is the most wonderful thing. Amongst all of the amazing things my favourite is “Portrait of Doly” by Kees Van Dongen.
